It has been almost a month since the kitchen was completed and I wanted to express to you my gratitude and thanks as to how it all turned out. Life has been crazy lately with Anna and I had outpatient surgery last week and am just now getting settled down to send you all a note.
I love love love the kitchen and am really enjoying cooking in it. We have so much light and so much room and it feels warm and inviting. We are trying to put things back and in the process are finding we don’t need half of what we took out which is nice.
Still no refrigerator yet but should have one at the end of March.

I was pretty tired today, from a short night’s sleep, and may not have seemed as excited as I am about the work that you did at our house.
Please have no doubt that we are both delighted by the way everything turned out! As I mentioned earlier, Brenda has put up with a house that wasn’t up to the standard either of us wanted, but didn’t complain much. For my part, every time I stepped into our old bathroom, my sense of “unfinished business” put a damper on my whole outlook on life. I always thought I could do a lot of the work myself, but lack of time, money and expertise were always obstacles. I finally saved enough to get a real professional to put things right, and you delivered that — and more.
Thanks especially for being flexible with the changes that cropped up, and for working with us so tirelessly (both of you!) to see this project through, and for being picky about the details being done right. We are very happy, and are going to enjoy our “new digs” a lot.

Their contractors were professional, courteous and very neat. Tammy was a huge help in picking out colors, granite types, fixtures and in general helped make our decorating decisions fun and easy. Rob offered multiple design options and patiently worked with us to determine the best choice based on our tastes and budget. We are very happy with the end result and would recommend them to others. WOW, our new kitchen is amazing. We have lived in our home for 19 years and it was time for a change. Rob and Tammy took our 1990’s kitchen and transformed it into a beautiful elegant kitchen. His design left only the dishwasher and the sink in its original location. This allowed us to incorporate many of the features we wanted to bring to our new kitchen to make it more functional. Rob provided us with a detailed quote, a schedule of what would take place when and what was expected of us as home owners. His subcontracts were courteous and the worksite was always left tidy. Tammy’s ability to see the finished project from a few samples of tile and granite is truly a gift. Rob and Tammy’s attention for detail went above and beyond our expectations. Our remodel was finished 1 week ahead of schedule and we have been enjoying it ever since.

If I could leave a review for 100 stars for Rob and his team, I would. I recently moved from Chicago to Atlanta and purchased a house that needed to have the kitchen completely redone. After meeting with no less than 6 contractors, I finally found Rob. I had to do a lot of my planning while still in Chicago and needed to find someone that I could trust with my home b/c I knew I wouldn’t be able to move from Chicago for a few months.
Within 5 mins of talking with him, I knew I found someone that I could work with. But, I still hadn’t met him. Fast forward from the 1st time he came to see the kitchen (I was still in Chicago) and we facetimed and talked on the phone to now, it was soooo easy working with him.
I’ve had major remodeling done before, but I’ve never met a contractor that was more organized and detailed oriented than me. He had everything mapped out, from the drawings, to the day we picked finishes, to the final day. He was on schedule, even when we encountered a few unexpected issues (needed to change flooring & found some foundation issues that he fixed).
Because I had to do a lot of this remotely, it was important that the contractor I work with was responsive and would be able to communicate via e-mail, texts, and phone calls. And, Rob was…I got regular e-mails from him and pictures of the progress of the kitchen every day. I, also, met with his wife, Tammy, who helped pick out a lot (almost all) of the materials used in the kitchen. Her design insight was super helpful b/c she helped narrow down the selection to a handful of options and I could then quickly make my choice.
If I ever have to do another remodel in Atlanta, my 1st call will be to Rob.

Our new master bathroom looks absolutely gorgeous! Johnson Design and Consulting did a fantastic job. Rob and Tammy Johnson are very professional and extremely well organized. Initially, we were impressed with their excellent design suggestions. Their ideas were beautiful, functional, tailored for our style and consistent with our budget. At the beginning of the project, we received a schedule highlighting the key phases of the project and the corresponding start dates for each phase. Rob Johnson actively managed the project. Sally and I had 6+ companies talk to us and quote us on remodeling our kitchen, and we spoke to several real good ones. However several things about Rob, you will see, puts him ahead of all the rest. They really drive the process with ideas, suggestions, etc. and have a very defined process they go through from quote to implementation. Johnson’s Design and Consulting recently completed a fabulous renovation of our master bath, a handicapped-accessible guest bath, an office and a walk-in closet. Rob Johnson is organized, thorough, and easy to work with. He impressed us from the beginning by inviting each of his subs over to analyze the project before any money was even exchanged. The job ended up costing exactly what was estimated, with the only additions being changes or upgrades that we initiated. Rob was able to complete our job on budget and ahead of schedule (2 completely gutted bathrooms, the office and the closet were completed in 4 ½ weeks!). Rob’s wife, Tammy, is a decorator, and worked with us in picking out tile and paint colors. Tammy was a pleasure to work with, as well. Our friends cannot believe the transformation in our home – Rob and Tammy took two outdated, 1980’s style bathrooms, and made them look like exquisite, first-class bathrooms of today. We are very pleased with the results, and we would recommend Johnson’s Design and Consulting to all of our friends.

My husband and I have lived in our house for 10 years. We started to outgrow the space, looked around Dunwoody for next house, and after careful consideration decided to stay and renovate.
We needed to upgrade and make the best use of the space that we have, so we called on three contractors to bid the project. One was recommended by our real estate agent, the second recommendation came from a neighbor who had done similar work to what we needed to do and the third – Rob Johnson – came from a friend of ours.
The bidding process for each contractor couldn’t have been more different. One came in with a verbal bid on the spot, the second a one page outline after a 30 minute meeting at our house and Rob, totally different story. He and his wife, Tammy, came over to our house one evening and spent 2-3 hours with us. Talking through ideas that we had, learning about the ideas that they had, etc. After this meeting, Rob set-up a second day where he had all the sub contractors come to the house to measure and take a look at the space. They were in and out ALL DAY. Only then, did we receive a detailed, lengthy proposal spelling out every element and cost for the project. And that’s not all – we had another meeting so that Rob could present the contract and answer any questions.
At that point, our decision was easy.
We hired Rob shortly after receiving the bid and went to work immediately. The scope of our project wasn’t the most elaborate, but it was enough that we feel like we have a new home:
Second story put over the family room (was once an atrium ceiling). Now we have bedroom and bath over our family room.
New hardwoods and tile throughout the downstairs and hardwood and carpet throughout the upstairs
Granite and backsplash in the kitchen
New Island in the kitchen
New bookcases, fireplace in the family room

New paint throughout the house
Project Timing:
The bid included a detailed timeline, which included deadlines for us (items to select for the work being done) and for him (timing to get each stage done). If our deadlines were met, his would be met… and it was… AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. When does that ever happen?
Everything went smoothly and Rob and Tammy were great to work with. They listened to our needs, understood our style and helped us along with the project. We have giving their name to several friends and will continue to recommend them to others.
You always seem to hear horror stories of firing contractors, projects taking months longer than they should, etc. That’s not the story of our experience. Even after the fact, they are eager to help with touch ups, etc.
We highly recommend using Rob and Tammy Johnson. We plan to bring them back for Phase 2 and 3 of our projects!

I quickly learned that with Rob, they would leave when the job was done to Rob’s, Tammy’s, and our satisfaction and not before.

They changed course when they had to and steered us toward what we needed to consider when they had to. Their subs seemed to weight their effort more toward doing the job right than getting it done to get to the next site. We have developed a high level of confidence in their performance for future projects. History: All I wanted was to replace an old coil type cooktop – really. It turned out that my wife’s list was longer: The delaminating white cabinet doors and the white counter tops needed to go.
OK – I understand replacing the delaminating cabinet doors but countertops? (- white corian was nice – but this Granite – Wow.) Wait – we need a backsplash – and – The floor is looking a little doggy & needs refinishing and the other appliances are pretty dated and just getting by. (True) We met with several contractors and took bids on cabinets, floors, appliances, etc.
All were able to do a part of the job but would need to get back to us re aspects like floors, or appliances, or electrical, or the big one – style, color – and blending it in with the house style/decor and our tastes. One more quote would be ok…
Rhona had a friend/colleague with a new kitchen done by Rob and Tammy. Rob came by and listened to what we were thinking of doing and then explained their process. Rob, having listened to what we were thinking about, presented his ideas and processes well. Tammy provides in house expertise when needed to assist with color selection, styles, coordination of design elements etc.
Steering us to selections, styles, and colors that they know from experience would be great and still acceptable to our style and tastes was a huge plus.
(Being able to work with a vision of how it is going to be – blending colors, granite colors & patterns, styles we have not encountered before is invaluable.) Tammy’s ability to listen to Rhona’s design & color needs, along with Rhona’s colleague’s endorsement, were overwhelming factors in our choice to go with Rob. We were rewarded with a quality upgrade to our kitchen and the other spaces they touched.
